HEART OF LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB STATEMENT ON THE SUPREME COURT AND ABORTION RIGHTS
HLA Dems is deeply disappointed by the news that the Supreme Court failed to halt SB8, the recently enacted anti-choice law in Texas that criminalizes abortion after 6 weeks and offers bounties to snitches who report anyone who obtains an abortion or helps another person to obtain one.
In so doing, the Court has allowed Texas to violate the Constitutional precedent of Roe v. Wade and subsequent decisions establishing our right to obtain an abortion. Elevating feminist voices and electing women and our allies to serve in public office is as important as ever before, and HLA Dems stays committed to our mission. We fight back together.
What You Can Do TODAY:

What You Can Do TODAY:
- Visit and support National Network of Abortion Funds and these Texas organizations and others like them that help teens and women get access to reproductive healthcare and safe abortion access: Lillith Fund, TeaFund, FLAFronteraFund.AvowTexas, WestFund, and more.
- Donate to ACLU and Planned Parenthood Action and Center for Reproductive Rights and NARAL to fight for reproductive rights in the courts.
- Elect and re-elect pro-choice Democrats who put women and reproductive freedom front and center. It is imperative that we keep the momentum of the Blue Wave into the 2022 midterms and beyond. - Support these organizations work to support pro-choice candidates: Emerge America, EMILY's List, Run for Something, and Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee - DLCC
