HEART OF LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB STATEMENT ON THE MASS SHOOTINGS AND MURDER OF 19 INNOCENT CHILDREN AND 2 TEACHERS AT ROBB ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN TEXAS
We mourn the lives of all victims of gun violence and share the grief with their loved ones who live with the pain.
Heart of LA Democratic Club expresses our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the children and teachers senselessly murdered at the hands of a gunman. We also send strength to the injured, so that they may recover quickly. We know, however, that their lives are tragically changed forever. This was the 27th school shooting in 2022. There have been 212 deaths due to mass shootings in 2022. And in the 23 years since Columbine, Congress has not passed a single, major gun safety law.
We cannot let this cycle of violence go unchecked. We will not sit back complacently and wait for the next senseless mass murder. We will continue to hold our representatives accountable. We work in honor of the memory of the mass murder victims in Buffalo, Oxford, Michigan, Orange County, Parkland, Santa Clarita, Pleasantville, Fresno, Dayton, Gilroy, Pittsburgh, El Paso, Las Vegas, Pulse Nightclub, Tree of Life Synagogue, Sandy Hook Elementary, and sadly, so many more. We will continue in our mission to defeat politicians who consistently show they value guns over human lives, and who are backed by the gun lobby and the NRA's poisonous, dark money. The 2022 elections are in motion now, and we all must work to prevail in November and install legislators who share our values - in all levels of public office. We will continue to identify candidates in California and across the nation who are on the correct side of history, who will fight for common sense gun legislation to help keep our families and communities safe from people fueled by hate and determined to use guns to inflict harm and murder.
Please join us NOW and DEMAND ACTION TODAY.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Contact your elected officials and demand they pass gun control measures now.
