March 8 is International Women’s Day. This year's theme is: For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. This theme calls for action to unlock equal rights, power, and opportunities for all—and to build a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation—youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls—as catalysts for lasting change.
This work is central to the mission of Heart of LA Democratic Club. Founded in 2017, we continue to fight for equality through our advocacy and in local, state, and national politics. We remain committed to ensuring that women and girls have a voice in shaping policies that affect their lives.
On this International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing gender equality, protecting reproductive rights, advocating for fair wages and workplace protections, and breaking down barriers that continue to hold women and girls back.
Join us as we push for a future where every woman and girl—regardless of race, class, or background—has the power, rights, and opportunities to thrive. The fight for gender justice is far from over, but together, we are unstoppable.

Special membership Meeting: Wednesday, January 22, 7pm
Dear Friends, Our hearts are heavy as we witness and experience the devastation caused by the fires that continue to rage. The tragedy and heartache in the affected communities are beyond words, and our thoughts are with our members, loved-ones, friends, colleagues, and everyone who has been impacted.
For those in need, please know there are resources available to provide support during this difficult time. We included them in a special section here.
In light of recent events, we have rescheduled our meeting to ensure we can continue moving forward while being mindful of these challenging times. Our next meeting will take place as a special meeting on Wednesday, January 22, at 7 PM over Zoom. During this meeting, we will hold elections for new board members. Please join us if you are able. Your participation is crucial to our shared mission, and your voice is needed now more than ever.
Thank you for your resilience and dedication to our community. Together, we will continue to support one another and rebuild stronger. Warm regards,
💙 your friends at The Heart of LA Democratic Club 💙
Our January meeting has been postponed due to the LA Fires
Heart of LA
Founded in March 2017, the Heart of L.A. Democratic Club was created in recognition of the growing awareness within the Democratic Party that women are not but absolutely should be fully and equally represented in local, state, and national politics. The Heart of L.A. Democratic Club is open to all Democrats who subscribe to the club’s goals and purposes regardless of their gender identity.
The mission of the Heart of L.A. Democratic Club is to help make the Democratic Party and its elected officials responsive to, and responsible for, the needs of all people, particularly, though not exclusively, women in our community. In addition to endorsing candidates and organizing for those candidates, the Heart of L.A. Democratic Club actively participates in issues advocacy, community outreach, and voter education.
Our club’s monthly meetings feature guest speakers such as Democratic elected officials and candidates, and experts in policy areas of interest to women - including reproductive justice, homelessness, voter registration, immigration, criminal justice reform and more.
Gun Violence
Please join us NOW and DEMAND ACTION AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE TODAY. Contact your elected officials and demand they pass gun control measures now.
Abortion in the United States: Dobb's, Roe v. Wade, and What You Can Do Now June 24, 2023 marked one year since the Conservative right-wing Supreme Court's Dobbs decision that struck down Roe v Wade, denying abortion healthcare to millions of American women. Now nearly half of the states have some type of abortion bans. This has increased the burden on people, especially those with low incomes and from marginalized communities, to carry unwanted pregnancies to term.
