Heart of LA Democratic Club Statement on Mississippi's 15-week abortion law and the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court is hearing testimony on the Mississippi law that bars abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Mississippi's law violates the Constitutional precedent of Roe v. Wade and subsequent decisions establishing our right to obtain an abortion. While we will not hear the Court's decision until 2022, some justices through their line of questioning, indicated that they might rule to uphold Mississippi's law. If this happens, Roe v. Wade and women's right to abortions will be in effect overturned.
Elevating feminist voices and electing women and our allies to serve in public office is as important as ever before, and HLA Dems stays committed to our mission. We fight back together.
What You Can Do TODAY:

- Donate to ACLU and Planned Parenthood Action and Center for Reproductive Rights and NARAL to fight for reproductive rights in the courts.
- Elect and re-elect pro-choice Democrats who put women and reproductive freedom front and center. It is imperative that we keep the momentum of the Blue Wave into the 2022 midterms and beyond.
- Watch the HLADems website for who we endorse as well as links to how you can help fight for reproductive freedom. Support these organizations work to support pro-choice candidates: Emerge America, EMILY's List, Run for Something, and Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee - DLCC Join Supermajority to organize for the future.
