Statement from Heart of LA Democratic Club about Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner

The Heart of LA Democratic Club is deeply saddened by the devastating news of the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their Los Angeles home. Rob and Michele were valued members of the Los Angeles community whose creative work, civic engagement, and political involvement touched countless lives across our county and beyond.

Rob Reiner’s contributions to film, television, and public discourse helped shape generations of storytelling grounded in humanity, justice, and democratic values. His long standing advocacy for civil rights, inclusive democracy, and social progress reflected a deep commitment to the public good. Michele Singer Reiner was a creative force and steadfast partner whose presence and generosity enriched the cultural life of our community.

Our hearts are with the Reiner family, their loved ones, friends, and colleagues as they grieve an unimaginable loss. We hold space for their pain and respectfully honor their need for privacy and dignity during this profoundly difficult time.

This tragedy also underscores the reality that many families struggle with mental health challenges, often quietly and without sufficient support. Mental illness can affect individuals and families across all backgrounds and professions, and it deserves compassion, attention, and care. If you or someone you love is experiencing emotional distress, crisis, or feelings of isolation, help is available. In Los Angeles County, mental health resources are accessible 24 hours a day through the Department of Mental Health at 1 800-854-7771, and immediate support is available by texting LA to 741741.

We honor the lives of Rob and Michele Reiner by reaffirming our commitment to building a community rooted in empathy, care, and connection, where seeking help is encouraged and where no one is left to suffer alone.

ABOUT THE HEART OF LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB
Championing feminist leadership and women’s full representation in politics and policy.

The Feminist Club
Founded in March 2017, the Heart of LA Democratic Club was created in recognition of the growing awareness within the Democratic Party that women should be fully and equally represented in local, state, and national politics. The Heart of LA Democratic Club is open to all Democrats who subscribe to the club’s goals and purposes, regardless of gender identity.
The mission of the Heart of LA Democratic Club is to help make the Democratic Party and its elected officials responsive to, and responsible for, the needs of all people, particularly though not exclusively women in our community. In addition to endorsing candidates and organizing for those candidates, the Club actively engages in issues advocacy, community outreach, and voter education. Monthly meetings feature guest speakers including Democratic elected officials, candidates, and policy experts on issues such as reproductive justice, homelessness, voter registration, immigration, and criminal justice reform.
