Statement from Heart of LA Democratic Club about the Violent Mass Shooting at Bondi Beach
The Heart of LA Democratic Club are heartbroken and outraged by the murder of members of the Jewish community in Australia, carried out on the first day of Hanukkah during a celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney.
This was an act of terror. Targeting the Jewish Community during a sacred time of light, reflection, and resilience was a deliberate act of antisemitic violence meant to terrorize a community. Antisemitism is not abstract, rhetorical, or confined to history. It is present, it is dangerous, and it kills.
Acts of antisemitic terror reverberate far beyond where they occur. They send shockwaves through Jewish communities everywhere, spreading fear, grief, and a profound sense of vulnerability across the world.
We unequivocally condemn antisemitic hatred and violence in all its forms, wherever it occurs. Jewish people have the right to live, gather, worship, and celebrate their faith and culture in safety and peace, free from fear.
The Heart of LA Democratic Club stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in Australia and with Jewish communities around the world. We mourn the lives lost, honor their memory, and reject silence or complacency in the face of hate. We recommit ourselves to naming antisemitism clearly, confronting it directly, and standing with Jewish communities and all communities who live in fear because of hatred and violence.

ABOUT THE HEART OF LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB
